A good memory isn’t just above retrieving Information; it also brings a great deal of richness to your life. If your grey matter could do with a retune, having more periods of restful wakefulness in your day could help you create and retain memories, according to a study by Edinburgh’s Heriot-Watt University. When shown a set of photographs, participants who quietly rested for a few minutes afterwards were better at noticing subtle differences in similar images, suggesting they stored more detailed memories than the control group, say the researchers. While it’s not clear how mechanism works, it’s believed resting helps reactivate new memories. All you have to do how is remember to take a break!
